Jessica Gerschultz in conversation with Yasmine Chemali
Thursday 5 July, 19:00 to 20:30
This talk considers how weavers and designers in Lebanon negotiated the terms of collaboration and creation across lines of gender, class, and nationality, as well as explores the relationship of the fiber medium to the concept of “craft.”
To mark the opening of the exhibition Classic Reloaded. Mediterranea at Villa Audi, curated by Bartolomeo Pietromarchi, artists Enzo Cucchi and Remo Salvadori will be in conversation with the curator to delve into the central themes that animate Italy’s current artistic debates.
To mark International Archives Day 2018, we have extended the archival display "In the Archive of Richard A. Chahine," on view at the Sursock Museum Library. The documents exhibited here – photographs, press cuts, and artist folders – highlight some of Chahine's extensive research on Lebanon’s and the region’s rich cultural heritage.
