Lebanon has witnessed a number of violent earthquakes as a result of its geographical location on several fault lines. Through an investigation of the country’s seismic history, this film observes catastrophe in the making.

Following the daily rituals of Sultan Zeib Khan, keeper of a Neolithic necropolis in the Sharjah desert for over twenty years, The Digger is a mediation on time, history, and the stories we create to link ourselves to the past.
Gregory Buchakjian is a Beirut-based art historian and photographer. He teaches at l'Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA)-University of Balamand, where his research revolves around modern and contemporary Lebanese and Arab art. Currently, he is Ph.D. candidate at Université Paris IV Sorbonne for a dissertation entitled Abandoned Dwellings in Beirut: Wars and Transformation of the Urban Space. 1860-2015.
