Backstory: A series of shorts by emerging filmmakers

This event presents a screening program featuring shorts by four emerging filmmakers: Mohammed Almughanni, Ayman Nahle, Nadine Salib, and Ginan Seidl. Following the screening, there will be a conversation and Q&A session, moderated by Ghassan Salhab.
Backstory: The Film Residency supports regional filmmakers, and is a joint collaboration between BAR, the Goethe-Institut, and Metropolis Cinema.
Mohammed Almughanni is a director, screenwriter, and cinematographer. He was born in 1993 in Gaza. He is a student of Film Directing at the Film School in Łódź.
Ayman Nahle is a Lebanese filmmaker based in Beirut. He studied film and theater at the Lebanese University, Beirut.
Nadine Salib is an Egyptian film director and writer. She studied film directing at the IAMS.
Ginan Seidl is a video/installation artist and filmmaker based in Halle/Saale. She studied plastic arts in Halle (Saale), Berlin, and Mexico City.
Ghassan Salhab is a director, screenwriter, and film instructor. Ranging from documentary to thriller to new media, his films question the foundations of society and the role of art and the individual in times of unrest.
