The proceeds of Cabaret Sursock by Alexandre Paulikevitch will go to support BAHH’s mutual fund.

“Let's remember Badia Masabni and dance for memory, beauty, and history. Cabarets from Berlin to Cairo have always served as spaces of cultural resistance where artists from the margins challenge oppression and censorship through entertainment and politics. Alexandre Paulikevitch, being a man who practices a dance exclusively reserved for women, brings back through Cabaret Sursock this musical and dance heritage with a modern approach to body politics!”

Alexandre Paulikevitch is a performer, dancer, and educator. In 2000, he moved to Paris and graduated from the University of Paris VIII with a degree in Theater and Dance. He has been living in Beirut since 2006, creating spaces of reflection on “baladi dance” commonly known as “belly dance,” through his work as a teacher and performer.

BAHH is a group that includes multiple professions, specializations among artists, administrators, workers, researchers, and activists of various fields of performing arts. It seeks to create a den of coordination between performing artists within a cooperative structure that reconsiders the market and the institutionalization of art.
