Restore, Rebuild, Preserve

STRATEGIC PLAN 2025-2028

Before the crisis, the museum's activities were mostly financed by a tax on building permits levied by the Beirut Municipality. It now covers less than 6 percent of our expenses.

This is our new challenge: financing this vital institution to survive amid the complete financial collapse. With our Board of Trustees, our circle of friends and future supporters will do so while still offering free access to art.

We cannot overstate the significance of your engagement with the Sursock Museum. Your support is vital.

We have developed a comprehensive implementation plan including all projects and budgets mapped and organized in six categories.

You can choose where your contribution goes and play an important role in the future of our institution!

EMPOWER CULTURE AT THE SURSOCK MUSEUM: A CALL TO ACTION

Amid Lebanon’s historic financial collapse and the suspension of municipal revenues since 2020, the Sursock Museum operated without a single source of income for two years.

From 2023 to August 2025, revenues surged by +242%, a testament to the unshakable spirit of the Lebanese people at home and abroad, the vision and stewardship of our Board of Trustees, and the unwavering dedication of our Museum team.

A FUNDRAISING TURNAROUND

Since May 2023, a vital amount was fundraised. These funds have been secured through:

  • Friends of the Museum chapters abroad

  • Tax-deductible giving in the USA & France

  • Philanthropic pledges & grants

  • Galas & benefit auctions

  • New earned income streams: the Museum restaurant, venue rentals, photoshoots, guided tours, and donation box
